This is a part of the #100DaysOfSummer project of The PR Girl Closet, and we are now on Day 16!
Day 16, 10:30 AM, Philippines
The return to the Philippines wasn't an easy one for me initially. Yesterday was a day full of emotions and tears but when I saw my mom at the airport last night, waving her hands and smiling while welcoming me, all the fears and tears were gone. While at the airport waiting for my suitcases, I saw ads that covered endless walls saying "It's More Fun in the Philippines" with beautiful photographs of the Mayon Volcano, girls in costumes dancing and smiling from ear to ear, tarsiers that look cool in their super huge eyes and school of fishes that says "attending class... more fun in the Philippines". This whole concept was started years ago by the Philippine Tourism department to promote the Philippines' top tourist destinations. When I saw these ads, people laughing and talking while waiting for their suitcases to arrive, Smart and Globe SIM card booths, friendly and warm airport staff who will ask you if you need any assistance even if you're not asking for one, photos of Kris Aquino for a real estate ad, then I knew I'm home... and it's good, it's great to be home again!
We drove through the city and since it's holy week - which is a huge deal in the Philippines since this is a Catholic country - traffic was unbelievable! People are busy getting on the road going to their provinces to spend the long weekend. I eyed some sidewalk vendors, KTV bars (of course!), Tapsilog food stalls (for those of you who don't know what that is, tapsilog is short for "tapa, singangag, itlog" which is "beef, fried rice, egg". This is a personal favourite and a very popular food in the Philippines), gigantic billboard ads, and lighted signs of Jollibee (I saw at least four. Haha!)
I was welcomed by our three cute dogs and two cats at home. My sister was home minutes after I arrive and we welcomed each other with hugs and laughs. As expected, she immediately opened my suitcases and went through my clothes, looking for something that she can wear for work today (then after at least half an hour of trying on clothes, she found the purple fluid jumpsuit and decided to wear that without asking me if that's okay. Haha! God how I miss my sister!)
It's a nice welcome, away from stress and worries. I have a lot of catching up to do with friends and while I am writing this, I've already arranged for a friend to take photos of me for my blog. Haha!
Here, I'm sharing with you some of the photos I took during my last visit three months ago. Enjoy! X
