2013 STYLE ROUND-UP

As we turn our back to the year 2013, I'm pretty sure most of us have the requisite New Year's resolutions all ready before the year came to an end. I have mine all compiled on Evernote just before I bid au revoir to the year that was.

Along with the lines of saving more and cutting back on expenses, getting a promotion by the end of the year, and leading a healthy lifestyle, I also have the extra resolutions that consist of style, social media etiquette and personal branding. But before I edit myself (and my style, for that matter), it pays to look back at the previous looks that I adored in the previous year.

Titled as the year of the selfie, 2013 also marked the year when I learned how to wear maxi dresses and fluid jumpsuits in the office (when you work in the fashion industry, trust me you can get away with it) amidst the stares I get in the train on the way to work. That was the year when I fall madly in love with everything structured - leather handbags, shift dresses in clean silhouettes, pointed pumps and tight pencil skirts. 

Running in heels is a literal way of life every morning, natural wavy hair and the occasional low messy buns have been my favourite way of wearing my hair, makeup has become more complicated with fully-defined brows and chiseled cheeks, hemlines lengthen and the declaration of the death of mini bondage skirts and dresses has finally happened. Swimsuits and long dresses multiplied, Valisere lingerie has made its way into my closet, and minaudieres kicked my soft clutch's sweet little ass.

  As the dresses and pencil skirts became longer and longer, daisy dukes became shorter and shorter. Cut-out dresses learned to lure me in, platforms are replaced by classy court pumps and sexy sky-high stilettos, and once again I found myself running back to Victoria Beckham for inspiration.
