#100DAYSOFSUMMER: DAY 27 - FASHION BLOGGER

This is a part of the #100DaysOfSummer project of The PR Girl Closet, and we are now on Day 27!

Day 27, 5:00 PM, Laguna, Philippines

Writing is the writer's way to express his/her emotions the same way as what songs are to singers. I started my first fashion blog when I was in my mid-20s mainly because I wanted to be a fashion editor and due to my background (graduated with a degree in Philosophy and a minor in Communication Arts with zero experience in editorial, save for those years when I was a Feature Editor of the high school newspaper but that didn't count), I ended up working in PR (which I realized, later on, that it's what I really want to do). But I didn't wanna give up on the dream of writing about fashion trends, insights about the industry and things in between, hence the birth of my first fashion blog.

#100DAYSOFSUMMER - DAY 6: LOCAL LABELS EXHIBIT @ ORCHARD CENTRAL

This is a part of the #100DaysOfSummer project of The PR Girl Closet, and we are now on Day 6!

Day 6, 10:00 AM, Orchard Central Singapore

Admiring fabulous international designer collections is one thing but there's always something special and unique about the local labels. For one, they have this unique way of crafting the pieces - some are lovingly handmade, some are made of indigenous materials which I find fascinating - and the designs are just beautiful! When I was in the Philippines, I've always been on the lookout for new and upcoming local fashion designer simply because I like seeing the local fashion scene grow and support new and amazing local labels. There's so much potential in a city where creativity just blooms. In Singapore, the local fashion scene just keeps on emerging with the introduction to new designers and events that help these new designers promote their label. One effort of supporting the local fashion designers is the Local Labels Exhibit @ Orchard Central.

This is a part of the #100DaysOfSummer project of The PR Girl Closet, and we are now on Day 5!

Day 5, 8:30 PM, Orchard Road, Singapore

Last night, Orchard Road literally stopped traffic as it has, once again, been transformed into the longest runway for the precinct's grandest fashion show as it switched the usual vehicular bustle for a dazzling outdoor catwalk display of the latest Spring/Summer collections. 150 models strut the Orchard Road catwalk at the Orchard Fashion Runway, donning the latest designs from nine fashion brands

INSTAGRAM DIARY

Instagram has been an essential part of my daily life. It's the first thing I check in the morning after waking up (yep, even before I check emails and WhatsApp messages). My closest (and the not-too-closest) friends know how obsessed I am with this social media platform. If I will be asked what are the top 5 things I can't live without, Instagram would probably be one of them. I can see life through filtered-coloured images. As a newbie fashion blogger, Instagram has been a great tool for me to promote my blog and discover new, upcoming and fantastic labels. Instagram is not just about filtered images and 15-second video clips; it is also a great and effective way for heightening up the awareness of brands, making it a favourite app of brand managers all over Asia, at least.

LAST WEEK'S INSTAGRAM DIARY

Filtered images became a part of my everyday (online) life. The obsession with sharing photos on Instagram continues to run in my system since God knows when. I often catch myself taking random snapshots of random things I find in random places, cropping them, choosing between countless choices of filters, and sharing them to the digital universe. Kevin Systrom sure did a fantastic job in creating an obsession a trend that left thousands of people from all over the world, from age 10 to 80, hungry for the need to take selfies and share them to the world. And yes, I am (unapologetically) a part of that Instagram-obsessed generation.

THE PINWHEEL SERIES: BOLD & BEAUTIFUL

This is a part of The Pinwheel Series presented by Pinwheel Jewels, a designer fashion jewellery multi-label online store. Check out the fabulous collections at http://www.pinwheeljewels.com/

Having brought up in a tropical country, the Philippines, I am always an advocate of resort wear dressing. Light dresses, short daisy dukes and breezy singlets always come in handy when the sun shines at its strongest. Living in the tropics allows us women to flaunt our healthy tanned skin in the skimpiest (and classiest) of outfits ever invented - and accessories (or excessories, as Rachel Zoe calls it) are the best armour we can ever have. I consider myself a lucky girl when Pinwheel Jewels provided me with various pieces from the current collection of designer jewellery for me to use for my Bali trip.

BALI INSTAGRAM DIARY

"Not all those who wander are lost", so the famous quote goes. As I was packing my bags (my trusted leather handbag and one suitcase filled with long dresses and gorgeous accessories by Pinwheel Jewels), I was having mixed emotions - I was a bit excited and more scared. It was my first time to travel alone and I was really hesitant to do it. I am absolutely clueless about road signs, I can't read maps and I always get lost so the idea of travelling alone doesn't appeal to me.

PLUM

In the animal kingdom, female animals are blessed with the power to lure in their male counterparts through the use of scents, seductive movements and a change in colour of their feathers or skin. These amazing qualities give female animals an interesting way to cope up and survive the often dangerous setting of the animal kingdom. In the real world, females are blessed with the power to transform from a sweet girl to a fully-grown woman with just a change of hair style, eye makeup or lip colour. Attitude, of course, sums up and differentiates the woman from a girl but at a first glance, when a lady is wearing a lip colour as intense as fire-engine red, she, then, screams womanly confidence with a personality as powerful as that of Madonna.

FLAT-OUT

Have you ever found yourself having to do something only to do something really far from what you ought to do? If this hasn't happened on you just yet, well to me, it happens almost often. Having an active imagination allows me to picture out things in their utmost unusual ways; sometimes even inappropriate ones, in just a snap. This happened this weekend when I was thinking of writing my next article for Secret {W} Business, but instead I took random stuff from the closet and ended up taking photos of them.

INSTAGRAM - Week of February 10, 2014

Oh how fast days went! I can't believe we're already in the middle of February. It seems quick especially now that our lease in our flat will expire at the end of the month so my friends and I are always busy looking for a new one - which leaves me to thinking that it's less than two weeks from now so we have to find a new flat pronto!

FANTASÌA PRESS CONFERENCE

Have you ever wondered how's it like to be in a chocolate factory (just like Charlie?)? Yes? Now, imagine it in real life - with larger-than-life masterpieces fashioned out of chocolate, pastry, meringue and other sugar elements. Still sounds like a dream, isn't it? How about melted chocolate flowing down like waterfall cascading into a melted chocolate lake with life-sized giraffes and elephants made of chocolate grazing in a beautiful landscape surrounded with trees with real mint chocolate leaves? Now, this doesn't sound real, does it? Well, yes, this has been a dream until two master pastry chefs decided to make this dream come to life. Welcome to Fantasìa!

PAJAMA DRESSING

As boudoir dressing made its arrival in the fashion scene and we saw daring women wearing lingerie out in the public for all to see, pajama dressing slowly became a favourite of the not-so-daring types. Pajama dressing is the ultimate answer to the prayers of workaholic women who would love to have their time (and feet) off of the beautiful dangers of wearing high heels and tight pencil skirts.  With the advent of couture pajama dressing introduced by Marc Jacobs and popularised by the Olsen twins before we even realised it, women in the likes of Sophia Coppola or even Rihanna embraced pajama dressing in all its simplicity and the comfort it offers.

BEHIND THE SCENES: CUT-OUT

We owe our classy feminine style to the women (and goddesses) of Greece for their unequalled flair for everything sophisticated. The invention of the Grecian dress and Venus cut, that both never failed to highlight a woman's figure and collarbones, made a huge difference on how women dress.

INSTAGRAM - Week of January 27, 2014

Instagram has always been fantastic in rounding up the events of any given week with its filtered images and its amazing ability to make anyone me believe that the week that just gone by is by far amazing than the previous one. Social media has been the millennial's armour in our constant battle with stress; some may not consider, but I, for one, really use social media to relieve stress from all external factors around me. I have this amazing ability to cope up with stress with just staring at beautiful photographs. And just like that, one moment later, all the stress is gone.

LE SMOKING

When smoke gets in your eyes, hurry up and go grab a camera, toss that wavy hair and capture the surreal moment. I don't smoke but I find a certain seductive glamour of black and white photographs with women having a smoke

INSTAGRAM - JANUARY 13 - 18, 2014

Hello Singapore! I am back, finally, with a huge smile on my face and new hopes and goals on my mind. I am delighted to be a part of the fabulous PR firm family, located mainly in the heart of the city. There are lots of cool things in my new job - a fantastic opportunity to work with the best names in the industry, a fabulous roster set of clients that I'm gonna be handling, a cool office set-up (would you believe we are allowed to drink whiskey while working? And our gorgeous boss encourages it actually!), and a beautiful and talented team to top it all off!

CROP

Crop tops and bralets are huge trends in the 90s. This is what seemed to be a reason for an obsession to slave in the gym for hours to achieve that covetable flat stomach (or better yet that four-to-six-pack abs if you've been slaving enough) and in turn, be able to wear those crop tops a la Mel C of Spice Girls.
